Sealing solutions
A seal is the cheapest part in an assembly and the most common reason it stops. So we select by operating conditions, not by visual similarity.
Seal selection starts with the operating conditions: medium, temperature, pressure, speed and the geometry of the housing. The same size in a different compound behaves differently, so the applicability of any substitution is agreed with the customer before ordering.
What it solves
- The seal fails before its expected service life.
- Only the size is known, not the compound or the design.
- The imported brand is unavailable and an equivalent for the same medium is needed.
- A food-grade or explosion-protection approval is needed and the documents are unclear.
What we supply
- Mechanical seals: single, double and cartridge
- Rotary and reciprocating lip seals
- O-rings in a range of elastomers
- Gland packings: graphite, PTFE, aramid, combined
- Gaskets for flanged and static joints
Input data we work with
- Seal designation or dimensions
- Process medium and its concentration
- Operating and peak temperature
- Operating and test pressure
- Shaft diameter and rotational speed
- Approval requirements: food grade, explosion protection, certification
How selection works
- We match medium and temperature against the chemical resistance of the compound.
- We check the velocity at the sealing face and the permissible pressure.
- We verify the housing geometry and the chamber type.
- If data is missing we state exactly what to measure on site.
Matching sheet
| Parameter | Original | Proposed | Assessment |
|---|---|---|---|
| Type | Metal-cased lip seal | Metal-cased lip seal | match |
| Size | 88 × 110 × 12 | 88 × 110 × 12 | match |
| Compound | FKM | FKM | match |
| Temperature | −20…+200 °C | −15…+200 °C | 5 °C lower |
| Dust lip | yes | yes | match |
| Documents | data sheet | material certificate | different format |
Example format. The set of parameters depends on the seal type and is agreed before ordering.
Parameter alignment
- The face-pair and secondary seal materials are fixed in writing.
- Differences from the original are stated — temperature, compound, design.
- Certification requirements are entered in the specification before ordering.
Pre-shipment checks
- Designation, dimensions and compound are checked against the order.
- Batch marking and elastomer shelf life are checked.
- Packaging protecting against light and deformation is checked.
Documents
- Supply contract and specification
- Invoice and delivery documents
- Material certificate where the order provides for one
Risks we remove
- A repeat failure: removed by selecting on conditions, not on size alone.
- Material incompatibility with the medium: checked before ordering.
Who it suits
- Pump and compressor operations
- Maintenance services replacing seals regularly
- Plants with aggressive and high-temperature media
